A safe harbor for healing, growth, and brighter tomorrows
Healing Harbor Therapy and Counseling provides compassionate, person-centered mental health therapy for people navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, and addiction.
More than symptom relief
Many people come to therapy wanting more than to feel a little less anxious or a little less low. They want to heal from the past, improve their relationships, build confidence, develop healthier ways of coping, and move toward greater peace, freedom, meaning, and purpose.
Healing Harbor was created for exactly that. What makes it different is the combination of mental health treatment, addiction expertise, trauma-informed care, and a highly personal approach. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we work with the whole person, helping you address trauma, anxiety, depression, relationships, self-worth, life direction, and recovery in a connected way.
The name says what we hope to be: a calm, welcoming place to rest, regroup, and get your bearings, so you can head back out into your life feeling steadier.
To help people heal, grow, and build healthier ways of coping, in a supportive environment focused on peace, confidence, freedom, and purpose.
What guides our work
-
Person-centered
You are more than a diagnosis. Therapy is shaped around your goals, your pace, and what matters to you.
-
Trauma-informed
Safety, choice, and trust come first. You decide what to share and when.
-
Whole-person
Mental health, trauma, relationships, and recovery are treated as connected parts of one story.
-
Growth-focused
The goal is more than relief. It is lasting healing, confidence, freedom, and purpose.
The approaches we use
Treatment is individualized, so the mix depends on you. These are evidence-based approaches, used warmly and flexibly rather than by the book.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- CBT looks at the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions. Together we notice patterns that keep you stuck, then practice new ways of thinking and responding. It is one of the most widely studied forms of therapy for anxiety and depression.
- DBT-informed skills
- Drawn from Dialectical Behavior Therapy, these practical skills help with managing intense emotions, getting through a crisis moment without making it worse, staying present, and handling relationships more effectively.
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- ACT helps you make room for painful thoughts and feelings rather than fighting them, so they have less control over your choices. Then it helps you move toward a life guided by your values.
- Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
- A structured approach that uses guided eye movements to reduce the distress connected to painful memories, often without needing to talk through every detail. Read more about Accelerated Resolution Therapy
- Nature-based interventions
- Duluth sits between the forest and the big lake. Nature-based work brings the grounding effect of the outdoors into therapy, from walk-and-talk sessions to mindfulness practices. Read more about Nature-based interventions
Your values, your choice
For some people, faith or deeply held personal values are a central part of how they understand suffering, healing, and growth. When a client wants it, those values can be integrated into therapy in a respectful, meaningful way.
If faith isn't part of your life, or you'd simply rather keep it out of therapy, it will never be brought in. You are welcome here either way.
