Website Privacy Policy

Last updated: [CLIENT TO PROVIDE: effective date once approved]

Draft for review. This policy was written by Better Website Services for Healing Harbor and should be reviewed by the practice (and ideally an attorney) before launch.

Your privacy matters

Healing Harbor Therapy and Counseling (“Healing Harbor,” “we,” “us”) respects your privacy. This page explains, in plain language, what information this website handles and how it is used.

Website privacy and health-information privacy are different

This policy covers this website only. Information you share as a client of Healing Harbor, including anything discussed in therapy and your clinical records, is protected health information. It is governed by federal law (HIPAA) and Minnesota law, and is described in our separate Notice of Privacy Practices.

Information this website handles

Information you choose to send

If you use our contact form, we receive the information you enter: your name, your preferred contact method, your phone number and/or email, and your general message. We use it only to respond to you.

Please do not include personal health information (symptoms, diagnoses, medications, or medical history) in the contact form or in regular email. These are not secure, encrypted channels intended for clinical information. We will discuss clinical details with you privately.

Basic technical information

Like most websites, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) automatically processes basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure, and prevent abuse.

[CLIENT TO PROVIDE: approval to enable Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused tool that counts visits without cookies or cross-site tracking. If enabled, this sentence will say so.]

Cookies and similar technology

This website does not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels (such as the Meta Pixel), or cross-site tracking, and we do not sell or share your information for advertising.

If you choose to load the map on our Office & Telehealth page, Google Maps is loaded from Google, and Google’s own privacy policy applies to that content. The map does not load unless you choose to show it.

How information is used and shared

We use contact-form information only to respond to your inquiry and, if you choose, to help you schedule a phone call or first session. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it for marketing. We may share information only with service providers who help us operate the website or deliver messages (for example, our hosting and email providers), or when required by law.

Your choices and security

You can ask us to delete a message you sent through the website. We use reasonable safeguards to protect information sent through this website, but no internet transmission is completely secure.

Children

This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them through the website.
